Why Choose Us?

Continuity of Care: Our goal is for your child to see their dedicated physician consistently, fostering strong, trusted relationships that support their growth and development over the years. This continuity of care allows us to better understand and meet your child's unique needs at every stage of their journey.

Accessible and Compassionate Care: We prioritize timely appointments and respect your busy schedule, making every effort to ensure that your visits provide ample time to address even the most complex concerns. This allows us to deliver thorough, personalized care and ensures that you and your child feel heard, supported, and well-cared for during every visit at our Mission Viejo, CA office.

Holistic Approach: We focus not only on treating illnesses but also on supporting your child’s emotional, social, cognitive, physical, developmental, and nutritional health. By addressing every aspect of their well-being, we strive to help your child thrive and reach their full potential.

Comprehensive Services: From routine well-child visits to urgent care needs, our inclusive care model reduces the need for outside referrals and long waiting times. We bring expert, comprehensive care directly to you, ensuring your child receives timely attention and support when they need it most. Mia Bella provides care for:

  • Adolescent Medicine: A holistic approach to adolescent care through age 22 provides comprehensive support tailored to the unique developmental and social challenges of this stage, such as navigating independence. This includes managing physical health concerns like acne and irregular periods, addressing disordered eating, supporting reproductive health, and preventing or treating drug use. It also involves fostering a safe space to explore sexual identity and addressing mood changes or mental health concerns. By considering the adolescent's overall well-being, this approach promotes physical, emotional, and social health as they transition into adulthood.
  • Autism: A comprehensive autism assessment evaluates a child's developmental, social, communication, sensory, and behavioral needs to understand their strengths and challenges. Based on this assessment, a multi-sensory treatment plan is developed to support the child holistically. This plan integrates various sensory approaches—such as visual aids, auditory cues, and tactile activities—to create engaging and personalized interventions. By building on the child’s strengths and addressing areas of difficulty, the plan aims to foster communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence while enhancing overall quality of life.
  • Clinical Psychology (Co-located): We offer therapy and counseling services to support children facing challenges such as difficult behaviors (including aggression, non-compliance, and tantrums), anxiety, depression, adjusting to divorce, and navigating difficult social situations. Our compassionate, child-centered approach helps your child build coping skills, develop resilience, and thrive emotionally and socially in a supportive environment tailored to their unique needs.
  • Concussions: We offer specialized concussion care through a collaborative approach led by our Physicians and Certified Athletic Trainer as part of the CHOC Children's Concussion Clinic Team. Our focus is on safely and efficiently returning concussed students to the classroom through evidence-based Return-to-Learn Protocols. We work closely with local schools, private and school-based Athletic Trainers, Vestibular (balance) Physical Therapists, Neuro-optometrists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Neuropsychologists to ensure comprehensive recovery. This multidisciplinary care helps your child return to both academic and athletic environments safely and at a pace that promotes long-term well-being.
  • Disordered Eating: Care for individuals with distressing attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors related to food intake, body shape, and weight involves a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. This includes closely collaborating with nutritionists to create personalized nutrition plans and psychologists to address underlying emotional and cognitive factors. The goal is to foster healthy eating habits, improve body image, and promote sustainable lifestyle modifications. This holistic approach aims to restore physical health, support mental well-being, and empower individuals to build a positive relationship with food and their bodies.
  • Learning Differences/Dyslexia: Led by a pediatrician with specialized interests and personal experience in childhood learning differences and school-related challenges, we offer support in navigating school-based plans such as IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), 504 plans and SSTs (Student Support Teams). We also provides guidance on understanding the diagnosis and treatment of learning disorders, including dyslexia, auditory processing issues, and sensory processing challenges. Families have direct access to comprehensive evaluations, tailored treatments, and an IEP advocate to ensure their child's educational and developmental needs are effectively met.
  • Long-COVID: Care for lingering symptoms after COVID-19, often referred to as long COVID or post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), involves a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. Common symptoms addressed include neurological symptoms (brain fog, headaches, chronic pain), gastrointestinal issues (nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, constipation), respiratory concerns (shortness of breath, chronic cough, exercise intolerance), cardiovascular symptoms (fast heart rates, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting spells, chest pain), sleep disorders (difficulty falling/staying asleep, nightmares, bed wetting) or fatigue and muscle weakness. This holistic care plan aims to alleviate symptoms, improve quality of life, and support recovery.
  • Neuropsychology(co-located): This service provides psycho-educational testing to identify school difficulties, learning disabilities, dyslexia, and ADHD, offering insights into a child's unique needs and strengths. Therapy and counseling are available to address challenging childhood behaviors, helping families develop effective strategies for emotional and behavioral support. Additionally, the practice specializes in managing concussion patients with persistent cognitive deficits, offering targeted interventions to support recovery and optimize cognitive functioning. The approach is tailored to promote educational success, emotional well-being, and neurological healing.
  • Sports Medicine: Staffed by a Pediatrician with special interests in sports medicine (acute, chronic, and overuse injuries) with a background in Long Term Athletic Development and Physical Literacy. They have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by student-athletes and are well-versed in the complexities of youth sports at various levels, from local recreational leagues to US National teams.
